Facebook Prepares for Next Phase

August 8, 2008 · Filed Under Uncategorized · 2 Comments

New Facebook Home PageIt seems facebook has taken initiations to revolutionize the way it works. New version of facebook is available to use and facebook is keen on three aspects according to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

We had three goals to improve Facebook in this version. First, we wanted to make everything clean and simple to use. Reducing clutter makes it easier for you to find what you’re looking for and share information with others. Second, we wanted to give you more control over your profile. Everyone should be able to express themselves how they want, which means privacy controls and control over how content appears on your profile. Lastly, we wanted to show the most recent and relevant content. People share so much on Facebook that it’s easier to keep up with your friends by focusing on the newest and most important information.

I hope we can get better experience via facebook in future. You can also try new version of facebook. Look for the try it now link on the top left hand corner.

Try it now link

New Facebook home page mainly there are three tabs and First one is Wall where we can find the News feed and some frequently used application along with network details. Tab info contains our contact details. Tab photos contain photos and tab boxes displays all the applications. No longer are profile pages too long and hard to load.

This simple and elegant desingn will bring more joyful experience to facebook fans, but I found that chat is missing.. why?? any idea?

Vulnerability of Facebook

July 27, 2008 · Filed Under Uncategorized · 4 Comments
Facebook, Inc.

Today (27th July, 2008) I got a call from one of my friends and he asked me “Machang Mayu, what is that HIV discussion in AIESEC office and all?”

“What? What discussion? No one told me about it”

“It seems you have created an event in Facebook for a discussion forum”

“WTF, I don’t even know about it. Hold on… I’ll check on facebook”

I checked facebook, and yes indeed there is an event created by me and people were invited. How come? I never created one. On top of all two friends have accepted the invitation, but they didn’t actually accept the invitation.

What is going on in Facebook? Anyone got same kind of experiences?

After this I changed my password and security question. Hope no one hacked into my Facebook account.

Recently I read an article in BBC about facebook. BBC guys created an application which looks like an interesting game, but in background it’ll collect sensitive information from users’ profile. It seems Facebook is no longer a safe place to play around. Watch your steps as you walk in community network sites.
