How to Watch Blocked ‘YouTube Shows’ Videos
When YouTube introduced YouTube Shows, I was flying and happy beyond imagination. Soon I come to know that most of the shows are not available to Sri Lankan users.
I was so annoyed. I wonder why YouTube shows the shows that are not available to our region. When you click on a video, it’ll return an error message saying “This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions”.
When I asked from Google, this is their answer….
Some YouTube content partners choose to make their videos available only to certain countries. For instance, they may only have the licensing rights for a particular region. On occasion, YouTube does block specific content in order to comply with local laws in countries where YouTube has been launched. For instance, certain Nazi imagery is unlawful in parts of Europe.
They block the videos based on IP address. Since our IP address shows that we’re coming from Sri Lanka, YouTube will display above message to us.
Even to most of the European users, it’s the same story. I was digging in net and came across this wonderful Proxy.
http://www.hypercloak.com will help you to watch most of the shows. Go to that site and enjoy YouTube shows.
Facebook Update and Notification via SMS
I don’t know what’s going on, but Facebook officially giving SMS update for Sri Lankan mobiles along with UK, USA, Canada and Maldives.
To start the process log-in to Facebook and go to settings and then click on Mobile tab. Dialog has come up with a complete user guide for this process, therefore I’m not going to write about it.
Just after the mobile number confirmation you can choose your own SMS options in facebook such as what type of notifications to receive etc.
Unfortunately this service is only available on Dialog and Mobitel networks. Real sorry for Huth, Tigo, Airtel users. I’m not regretting that I’m still with Dialog 
New Generation iPod Shuffles are out!!!
Are you ready for the NEXT GENERATION OF IPOD SHUFFLE?????? Yeah, finally Apple has announced new type of iPod shuffle. Most interesting feature of this product is in-built voice over feature. It’s been a problem for iPod shuffle users to check out the song title, artists as they don’t have display panel. Unlike iPod Nano, shuffle had no display panel. You can use this voice over feature to listen song titles, artist names etc.

It has controls near the ear bud. You can increase volume, browse track, create play lists using this handy control.
Above all you can also create play lists as per your interest. New iPod shuffle is half a size of previous iPod shuffle but it can hold up to 1000 songs as it has 4GB built in memory.

As usual, it’ll take time to reach Sri Lankan market or else we need to risk by going eBay. Apple is not shipping their products to Sri Lanka, probably legal issues.
Officially Downlaod YouTube Videos
Now you guys can officially download YouTube videos. You don’t have to reach third party YouTube downloading software or web sites. Below the video you’ll see a download button to download the video.
Some videos are not available for download, you must purchase them to view it offline 
When you go to such videos you’ll be redirected to Google Checkout page. Also YouTube has offered a new feature “Purchased Video” to track down the purchased videos.
Currently YouTube offering downloads in MP4 format. Hope soon they’ll start to offer in different formats too.
Youtube Video inside Gtalk
You’re chatting with one of your friends and he sends you one of the interesting youtube videos. You’ll have to click the link or copy paste the link in a new window to see the youtube video. Now without all these hassle you can view the video just inside gtalk window as shown in the figure below.

This feature is already available in Yahoo messenger but now only they got it into gtalk, even though google owns Youtube.
Colombo wata – Sri Lankan Game
It’s so nice to see finally Sri Lankans have taken initiations to make localized games for Sri Lankan market. First such game I saw is, Operation Thopigala where Army soldiers is getting into LTTE base in Thopigala and confront them in commando style.
Later I found there was a game release followed by success full movie ABBA. ABBA was a mobile game, and many people are pleased to see Sri Lankan heritage on mobile as a game.
Recently Sri Lankan game developers have released a new game in Sinhala. Colomba wata (Around Colombo) is a mobile based game where you’re a taxi driver and need to drive around Colombo. Check out the cool video that I got from the site.
Colombo Ride (“Colomba wate”) : The first Sinhala mobile game of its kind has finally arrived. The game is available for free download on any network anywhere in the world. So join in and play the most anticipated mobile game in Sri Lankan history.
This kind of initiations should be encouraged and people should support these people. Atleast download and play the game and report errors, therefore they can improve the quality of the game. One day we can introduce our games to international market.
Adiye Kolludhe: The only Tamil song on Channel [V]
Adiye kolluthey is perhaps the first Tamil song ever played over Channel [V]. It’s a honor to Tamil cinema folks (???). Normally Channel V is dominated by Bollywood songs and they don’t give a shit about South Talents.

The scenario has changed with Vaaranam Aayiram’s ‘Adiye Kolludhe’ breaking the jinx of “no southern songs on [V]”. Vaaranam Aayiram stars Suriya, Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana and Simran. Harris Jayaraj has composed its music. Sony BMG owns the audio rights of Vaaranam Aayiram.
Last week I watched the movie. You can watch the movie for surya. Sameera Retty is so damn cute. Many of my friends Criticized this movie, but why do they compare this movie with the movies made for awards. Its purly a commercial film and it has all the essence that is necessary to a commercial movie.
Adiye kolluthey is my favourite among the songs.
Trivia: ‘Adiye Kolludhe’ was sung by Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruthi (male voice: Krish) and it was released by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya!

Sarah Palin Prank Call with ‘Nicolas Sarkozy’ – Hilarious!
Sarah Louise Heath Palin (pronounced /ˈpeɪlɨn/; born February 11, 1964) is the governor of the U.S. state of Alaska and the Republican Party’s vice-presidential nominee for the 2008 United States presidential election.
Perhaps Sarah Palin should have realised something was amiss when the caller purporting to be France’s president, Nicolas Sarkozy, referred to “my special American adviser, Johnny Halliday”.
Later in the call, maybe, she could have guessed that even the real Sarkozy would be unlikely to refer to his wife, Carla Bruni, as “so hot in bed” or talk about a supposed mutual love of hunting by saying “to take away a life, that is so fun”.
The would-be vice president was, of course, speaking to Canadian comedian Marc-Antoine Audette, part of a radio duo who have made prank calls to a series of world leaders over the years.
Palin didn’t give away anything of real note – except perhaps an ambition to be president herself “maybe in eight years” – or suffer any real embarrassments.
It is interesting, however, to hear Palin’s eager tone of voice and exaggerated politeness (“We love you! Thanks you for talking to me!”) which seemed to go beyond courtesy into sheer fandom.
Maybe Palin – like many others – still can’t believe the position she’s in right now.

IPTV in Sri Lanka from SLT
Sri Lanka Telecom recently introduced IPTV in Sri Lanka. IPTV is simply a TV broadcast over the copper telephone line. To have this IPTV in your home you must have ADSL.
I was watching a demo of IPTV and it was very interesting. Especially the VOD (Video on Demand) is an very interesting feature. Say you have a favorite show at 7 PM but when you come home it almost 8 PM and you missed your favorite show. If you have an IPTV in your home you don’t have to worry. You can simply browse and see your favorite show at your convenient time. Also note you can forward and rewind your favorite shows. Damn cool isn’t it? Read more
This September is my favorite month
My FAV SHOWS
September is my favorite moth. Do you know why? Because my favorite TV shows are back. Heroes Season 3 to start on 22 September 2008. Prison Break Season 4 already started, Sara Connor Chronicles is also back.
No wonder these TV shows are favorite show of millions around the world. Prison break story came back to USA from dirty Sona, Panama, and this time Michel Scofield is set to bring down company by FBI. He assembled his own team to bring down the company. There is a sweet news. Sara is not dead. She is back and joined Michael’s team. Read more
