Demanding PayPal Full Support for Sri Lanka

It is a well discussed but no solution problem in Sri Lanka. PayPal do supports Sri Lanka but the support is limited to buying stuffs and sending money out of the account. Most important feature is receiving money to the account which is not supported for the country.

The reason always given by PayPal was the legal restrictions in the country. But most funny thing is CBSL (Central Bank of Sri Lanka) allows currency flow out of the country but it doesn’t allow income. I’m sure the main concern is that CBSL should have control over the amount of money flows into the country to avoid black money and all. But it is being done and properly monitored in many countries even in India.

Recently there is an online petition prepared by some Sri Lankan PayPal freelancers to urge SLGov, PayPal and CBSL to proceed with the paper work etc. and allow Sri Lankans to reap maximum out of the PayPal.

All these days getting full PayPal support for Sri Lanka has been a never-ending quest for both freelancers and online entrepreneurs. Let’s see what future holds for us.

  2. I don’t think it is an effort to control black money circulation.

My guess is that they could have done this to stop foreign funding during Civil war times.
