@Vajira
Whether you're using it or not, that you have to decide but don't discourage young generation. Survival of our languages will soon rely on computers, by dat time we should have all our stuffs in our own language. Chinese and Japanese never call their elders only to use in Chinese and Japanese.

@Keshara
True, Damn True, 100% true.

Linux desktop systems like Gnome and KDE, distributions like Fedora and Ubuntu have good sinhala support with fully sinhala user interfaces for sometime. It is a shame that ICTA and government do not try to market these Free alternatives in schools and government organizations. This could save lot of money. Why do always try to find ways to send money back to other countries? :-(

It is good that Windows Vista is available in Sinhala. For our country it is recognition for our Sinhala language. For Microsoft it is good for their business. But I don’t like (or don’t want) any of us using Sinhala version of the Vista. Computer has to be used in English. If we stick to our local versions, we cannot improve our English knowledge and we cannot produce skilled workers who can work other parts of the world. Today I see people who used to operate computers in their native language and struggling to do their work in English version of Vista or Microsoft Office in another country. I suggest we better let our senior citizens to use Vista in Sinhala and younger generations to use it in English.
