Kaspersky Internet Security 2009

kaspersky-internet-security-2009-v800357-1Sri Lankan is a hot spot for pirated software. From the day I know I can buy a Windows CD for just 100 LKR (Aprox $1). Later government started take action on the shops selling pirated copies of Windows. Government started with Windows and stopped with Windows. They never went ahead and worked against piracy afterwards. Still you can find loads of pirated softwares in the market.

But when it comes to Anti-Virus protection people are going for genuine products. They never went for pirated copies as most of the time pirated copies failed to protect their computers from Viruses and trogons.

Most of the people are attracted towards Kaspersky, though conventional antivirus softwares such as symantac and Mcafee available in the market. Main reasons are, user friendly interface of Kaspersky, its efficient and effective in working with virus and internet security and above all it’ll rarely mess up with the system.

One of my friends was using Bitdefender, and it’s such a pain. It’ll eat your system resources and most of the time it’ll start to conflict with your programes. My friend’s SLT ADSL connection was failing all the time and when he uninstalled BitDefender and installed Kaspersky nothing happened.

I bought a 3PC licence for 3000 LKR (only for Sri Lanka and Maldives) in Unity plaza and we shared it among 3 of us. Literally each licence costs about 1000 LKR. If you’re to go for a Single Licence, then you’ll have to spend 1700 LKR. That’s why it’s good you collect three people and buy a licence. It’ll be cost effective ;)

I’m not saying that Kaspersky is the best. But throughout my experience, Kaspersky has done a good job compare to any other Anti Virus, Internet security programme.

Please do share your experiences with Anti-virus software.

PS: According to one of my old campus lecturer, all viruses are created by Anti-virus manufacturers to sell their product.

    If you don’t have a decent bit of RAM, Kaspersky can seriously slow down your PC when you put a manual scan to work! :(

    @Cricket Tragic
    I have 2GB RAM in my machine and it never caused such problems. If Kaspersky acting this weired then think about running BitDefender in a PC where you don’t have enough RAM!!!!

    Many annoying worms are not identified and cured by other antivirus suits such as Symantac and McAfee.

    If what your lecturer said is true (and I don’t doubt that he is =D ) Kaspersky is a demonic virus producing company!

    I use Kaspersky 2009 and it’s pretty good. Except I seem to have a locally designed virus on my pc that Kaspersky isn’t detecting…

    How do you get rid of locally designed viruses?

    ha.. ha.. lolz, My lec was not pointing only on Kaspersky he is accusing all Anti-Virus companies :)

    mmm if you send a sample of your virus Kaspersky will help you out or you can always contact their customer support as long as you’ve got a valid serial key and customer ID :)

    I use NOD.32 (Pirated version) and its the best one I’ve found best on my laptop for memory usage.

    On my PC I use AVG Free, and one or two viruses are not big deal for me, coz can clean by hand later :-)

    In my opinion Avira personal edition classic works fine at home. I am using it and I don’t have any problem. Best thing it low on memory resources. There is a german version of Norton Internet security 2009 available for 180 days what’s the deal about Kaspersky? After all German is not that difficult to understand. Although I was one time fan of Kaspersky more than 2 years I didn’t bother about Kaspersky.

    he.. he.. for a geek like you that is simple but for a poor guy like me?? I’ll have to use a Virus guard ;)

    I’ve heard one of my friends in UK who migrated also using same virus guard and I know you’ve got license for 50 years or something???

    @Umapathy
    so you’re a old time fan of Kaspasky. Anyway thankz for the input on Avira and Gnerman Nortan Internet Security 2009.

    manual scan of kaspersky consumes a load of system resources…
    but its better than mCafee or norton since some viruses and worms are not detected by them.

    I think kaspersy 2009 is the worst version of kaspersky. As the poster of this thread said, i collected 3 guys and bought new kaspersky 2010 from avian technologies…

    There is a new version of KIS 2010 available. The greatest addition to the new edition is in my opinion the Safe Mode feature, that you can use to run potentially insecure applications such as Web browsers in an isolated environment.
