Web Host Rating
People some time get annoyed by their existing hosting service and look for new hosting services. I was searching for hosting advices over the net and found this wonderful web site. This web site is giving tips on webhosting.
You can go for a free web host or you can go for a premium web hosting by paying some money. Each of the solution has their pros and cons. For example, if you go for a free hosting they’ll embed their own advertisements in your site.
In their Home Page, they comparing different hosting companies and giving the feature details of each site. They’re offering ratings for CMS hosting too such as WordPress hosting.
Here a small quote from the site
Are you looking for something a bit more customized? For many webmasters, shared hosting is a favorite. This means that an abundance of websites are actually on one server. While this only costs a few dollars a month, there are still issues that come along with it. For instance, if a fellow webmaster were to have done something illegal, chances are your website would be shut down as well. This is because you share an IP, which of course can be quite dangerous. For this reason, you must be careful when choosing people to share a host with.
Google PR UPDATED [28-2-2009]
Guys!
Google has updated PR (Page Rank) again. My new Page Rank is 3. I used to have 2, later it became 0 and now gained to 3.
I was expecting atleast a Page Rank 4, since I got incoming links from many sites, especially Sri Lankan sites. Thanks for linking my site.
And few more…
Anyway I’m happy. Hey what about your PR?
Change Title bar Title when using Gmail
As we know Gmail labs providing new features every day. Now they’re allowing you to tweak your title bar title. You can change you title bar title in settings.
Title Tweaks that changes the order of the elements in the browser title bar to put the more important things first. Once you turn on Title Tweaks from the Labs tab under Settings, your browser title bar will display something more like “Inbox (3) – Gma…”.

Avoiding Online Job Scams
There are many sites claiming that they can offer you online jobs. And you can earn from home. But most of the time, these people are just scammers who want to steal something out of you.
These people are either interested in your credit card number, bio-data or your identity. Say for an example they’ve got hold of your Credit card number, they can buy all the stuff while bill is being created on your card.
Some people steal your bio data and edit it and sell it for other people. Above all some might steal your identity such ID number, Social security number, etc and use it illegally. You’ll end up in jail for someone else works.
But the good thing is you can easily identify this scammer very easily. Most of these people will promise you some stupid stuff. Check out the following examples.
1. You can make $2000 in one week while sitting in home and doing some easy data entry work.
2. Ask you to make a payment of $49.99 to make $4000 in a week
3. Slogan starts as “We have hundreds of jobs for you!!!”
4. Some fake people and their profile picture along with some quote as they already made enough money online.
5. Funky unprofessional web page.
6. Requests your personal details such as ID number, Bank Account number etc.

Christmas For Payatas
Coming from third world country I understand the desperation of the kids living in Payatas, Philippines. There are kids living and have no place to sit or sleep. They run their life from the garbage that they collect every day.
For coming next Christmas these kids gonna enjoy the Christmas with the Christmas from the charity made around the world. Christmas For Payatas will be powered by each of our support. There are many good people such as started to support this cause. check out the web site Christmas For Payatas
Check out this video. Very sad. Compare to this situation, our country is far better.
The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate conditions of humanity.
On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to
collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival. In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas.
The money raised will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community.

Airtel limits the unlimited broadband with FUP
Airtel mobile broadband is stirring some interest among us and we have started to think of migrating from Dialog mobile broadband to Airtel Mobile broadband. Some people have gone one step ahead and unlocked HSPA modem which is locked by Dialog.
Today Indians are screaming that Airtel has introduced Fair user policy and they’ve cut down the speed by 50%. Oh Shit…! Yeah traitors!
Now most of the Airtel broadband users have to be careful at anytime Sri Lankan Airtel can also impose the same rule out in Sri Lanka. Applying Fair user policy and cutting the speed down. On top of all Airtel has come up with a document about FUP.
I have decided to push back my plans of migrating to Airtel. We’ll wait and see what these Airtel people are up to.
SLT Home ADSL is now 1600 Rupees
Nations premier network has decided to bring down the tariff for ADSL connection. It’s inevitable for SLT to bring down the prices as other broadband services such as Dialog Mobile broadband (University student package), Airtel HSPA was given for lower prices.
Most of my friends told me that SLT is offering ADSL for a cheap price in Dayata Kirrulla exhibition. I checked in SLT Net site but nothing was updated. I talked with SLT customer care at 011-255 55 55 and got the ADSL tariffs.
Starter packages which were given at the price of 1000 LKR is now 500 LKR with 1GB download limit. Home ADSL is now 1600 LKR. They have reduced to 1600 from 2500 LKR. Office ADSL package is 5500 LKR.

BBC College of Journalism in Tamil & Sinhala
College of Journalism program is launched by BBC in Sinhala and Tamil. They’ve already launched this program in many languages including Russian, English, French, and Arabic etc.
Also BBC says “This is just the first step, we would like to see these pages grow and become a more detailed introduction to the language of Journalism.”
Most annoying thing I found is BBC Sinhala’s site is in English while Tamil, Hindi sites are in respective languages. Even this College of Journalism is launched in English by BBC Sinhala while BBC Tamil launched in Tamil.
When I roughly go through, I came across many interesting stuff related to journalism such as pronunciation, choosing correct word etc.
