Yahoo Messenger Sign-in Problems??
Have you got sign-in problems in Yahoo Messenger 9? Yahoo has investigated on this issue by directly contacting Yahoo Messenger users in USA and Canada. Yesterday they’ve come up with a solution and the bug fix is available in the latest build which you can download now.
As per Yahoo, this fix won’t help all the sign-in problems but it’ll help out considerable number of users, who can’t sign-into yahoo messenger.
Also on 28th Yahoo has introduced yahoo IM and SMS in Classic mail. It’s going to be fun with yahoo classic as we can chat even in classic.
Hope yahoo will come up with such products in future to challenge his rival Google

As is the case with many companies that maintain large databases of information, Monster is the target of illegal attempts to access and extract information from its database. We recently learned our database was illegally accessed and certain contact and account data were taken, including Monster user IDs and passwords, email addresses, names, phone numbers, and some basic demographic data. The information accessed does not include resumes. Monster does not generally collect – and the accessed information does not include – sensitive data such as social security numbers or personal financial data.Immediately upon learning about this, Monster initiated an investigation and took corrective steps. It is important to know the company continually monitors for any illicit use of information in our database, and so far, we have not detected the misuse of this information.
In order to help assure the security of your information, you may soon be required to change your password upon logging onto the site. Please follow the instructions on the site. We would also recommend you proactively change your password yourself as an added precaution. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you, but feel it is important that you take these preventative measures.
As a further precaution, we want to remind you that an email address could be used to target “phishing” emails. Monster will never send an unsolicited email asking you to confirm your username and password, nor will Monster ask you to download any software, “tool” or “access agreement” in order to use your Monster account. Monster’s security page, http://my.monster.com/securitycenter, provides users with a substantial amount of information about different types of Internet fraud. We encourage you to review the information to learn more about what you can do to protect yourself on the Internet.
The protection of your data is a high priority for Monster. Our newly redesigned Web site has, and will continue to add, safety and security features to protect your information and we want you to feel confident using it.
We continue to devote significant resources to ensure Monster has appropriate security controls in place to protect our infrastructure, and while no company can completely prevent unauthorized access to data, Monster believes that by reaching out to job seekers, the company can help users better defend themselves against similar attacks.
We truly value the trust you place in Monster and appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve as your online career resource.
Sincerely,
Patrick Manzo
Senior Vice President, Global Chief Privacy Officer

Colombo wata – Sri Lankan Game
It’s so nice to see finally Sri Lankans have taken initiations to make localized games for Sri Lankan market. First such game I saw is, Operation Thopigala where Army soldiers is getting into LTTE base in Thopigala and confront them in commando style.
Later I found there was a game release followed by success full movie ABBA. ABBA was a mobile game, and many people are pleased to see Sri Lankan heritage on mobile as a game.
Recently Sri Lankan game developers have released a new game in Sinhala. Colomba wata (Around Colombo) is a mobile based game where you’re a taxi driver and need to drive around Colombo. Check out the cool video that I got from the site.
Colombo Ride (“Colomba wate”) : The first Sinhala mobile game of its kind has finally arrived. The game is available for free download on any network anywhere in the world. So join in and play the most anticipated mobile game in Sri Lankan history.
This kind of initiations should be encouraged and people should support these people. Atleast download and play the game and report errors, therefore they can improve the quality of the game. One day we can introduce our games to international market.

Increase Download Speed on Public Torrents
When we use private torrent tracker we’ll get more speed than public torrent trackers. Few weeks back I come across a tip which may help you to increase the download speed of public torrents.
In public torrents, most of the time people leech and never seed. As the result number of seeds will be very low. Some time, same torrent will be released on several public torrent trackers. We can take advantage of that.
Open your utorrent program (or similar program) and right click on the public torrent and choose properties. Under the General tab, insert following trackers.

As you do above operation you have the probability of increasing the number of seeders. Also remember that, this trick won’t always help you and some time it’ll bring more leeches than seeders, so beware of the consequences too
PS: Never try this trick for private trackers. You may get banned

Handle rar Files on Ubuntu
Have u ever tried to open RAR files on Ubuntu??? I did and found that Ubuntu Archive manager can’t handle RAR files. Reason is by default it is not activated in Ubuntu as it has proprietary issue.
To activate RAR support in Ubuntu run the following command on terminal (Applications → Accessories → Terminal)
sudo apt-get install unrar-free
Now try and open rar files in ubuntu, it’ll work like magic
Airtel Launch on January 12 in Sri Lanka
At last, Bharathi Airtel has decided to launch their products in Sri Lanka. Today they’ve launched an aggressive advertising campaign in mass medias and electronic medias.
Today I saw bill boards of Airtel everywhere around Colombo. I’m glad finally Dialog got tough competition, and they’ll think of quality service. Followed by Airtel, RTEC is also entering Sri Lankan as a mobile operator.
The company on Monday announced its Lanka launch with ads in local newspapers. Ahead of Airtel’s entry, other operators have slashed tariff rates and are offering discounts with cellular connections.
Airtel is investing $200 million in the Sri Lankan operations and is replicating the outsourcing model in the island country. “It is an extension of the same business model. The company is leveraging its Indian partnerships,” said an analyst.
Airtel has outsoured IT operations to IBM while Huawei is rolling out networks. Bharti Telesoft, a part of the Bharti group, will offer value added services.
The company bagged license for Sri Lanka in early 2007 and hired Amali Nanayakkara as the CEO in October that year. She was earlier working with Unilever in Sri Lanka as Director Marketing in the Personal Care Division.
Airtel has hired largely local people for operations in Sri Lanka. Around 20 people from Airtel India are currently working there, looking after the launch.
