Please refrain from using this method as GAF is no longer supporting this method. This method is no longer valid.

Though I write this article for Sri Lankans, anyone who has problem withdrawing paypal money can try this out.

As I wrote earlier Sri Lankans can’t receive payment in Paypal, so most of the users register as Indian users and receive payments. But there is an issue that you can’t cash out your money that you have in your paypal account. I was trying several ways and found out a way to cash my money. It’s a work around and you will loose small amount of money in transactions but still you can receive most of your money.

To do this you need to have three accounts
1. PayPal Account
2. Get A Freelancer Account
3. Moneybookers Account

Have you created the accounts??? I presume you have created the accounts

First login to your Get A Freelancer account ->
Go to Manage Accounts ->
Payment Transactions ->
Deposit Money ->
Choose PayPal
Now enter the amount
Click Next
Complete the transaction

Once you have withdraw the money from PayPal to Get A Freelancer, again Click on Payment transactions
Click Withdraw Money
Choose Moneybookers
Choose the amount you wanna transfer to Moneybookers
Complete the transaction

GAF will take about a week to transfer your money to Moneybookers account. From Moneybookers you can wire the money to your local bank accounts.

When you wire all you need is Bank Account Number and the SWIFT code of your bank. Search your bank’s site for SWIFT code or call their customer care and check out the SWIFT code. (Check Commercial bank Swift code)

If you still have any doubts please feel free to ask here.

    you can withdraw straight to your card , but there is a fee of 5USD. Go to your PP account and go to withdraw tab. There are two or three options , select withdraw to card

  3. Mayooresan on December 23rd, 2008 12:47 pm

    @Nishada
    Even Card Company charges a lot, such as $10 as initial payment then monthly $ 3.00 for account maintenance and another $ 2.15 + upto 3% of transaction amount for each transaction and more hidden fee too!

    So I’ll stick to Moneybookers

  4. Lightning_Struck_Tower on December 26th, 2008 1:21 pm

    @Mayooresan,
    Nice find. But ultimately the money is transferred to your local bank account as a bank wire payment am i correct? Doen’t this cost around $25 per transaction in most SL banks?

    I can’t see withdarw option in my paypal account. Could you please help me to figure out this issue?

  8. Mayooresan on December 31st, 2008 3:25 pm

    @Melani
    If you’re from US then you can withdraw it to your bank account or else you can request a check from paypal.

    What is your country? do they provide above service to your country? if not you can follow the method, I showed you above.

    Hi Mayooresan,

    thank you. I am from Sri Lanka. I made this account few months ago. i didnt use it. Now i like to use it for my ebay. Could you please clarify me how to transfer money from my credit card to paypal wise versa.

    Dear Mayooresan,
    First of all let me tell you that i am a complete noob to paypal and online money making stuff. I have several questions and would be glad if you could answer them for me.

    1. I have no credit card (only a normal savings account at a local bank). Do i need a credit card to use the method described in this article?
    2. Have you tried this method more than once? What would be the consequences of using this method for repeated withdrawals (monthly, etc)?
    3. Does this method violate any TOS of Paypal, GetAFreelancer or Moneybrookers?

    Thanks for the help and sorry for the barrage of questions.

  11. Harshadewa on January 5th, 2009 6:09 pm

    Hey machan,

    Thanks for this great info as I was struggling to find a way to do this. But I also found this post.
    http://www.digitalwebtalk.com/tips-n-tricks/withdraw-paypal-money-without-bank-accounts.html

    And I think it is more cheap than yours. I didn’t try it yet because I don’t have any money in Paypal.

    Thanks.

  13. kapila on January 10th, 2009 4:02 pm

    Is any banks in sri lanaka which provide a debit card which can be used for online transactions?
    Because my commercial bank debit card cannot be used for internet transactions. Please answer this question….

    Kapila

  14. Mayooresan on January 10th, 2009 7:26 pm

    @Mano
    you can create any country account as long as you can receive money on dat account.

    @Kapila
    I don’t think any of Sri Lankan banks do that. Why don’t you try out for Sampath Web Card. Itz a virtual Prepaid Visa Credit Card.

  15. dammika priyakumara on January 25th, 2009 11:12 am

    dear all,

    above artical mentioned that i can transfer money from the money booker,so do i need to have NRFC account to do that or its automatically convert it to the local currency and put to the account?how long money booker take to finish the transaction?

    thank you all thank you so much who wrote this artical.

  16. Mayooresan on January 25th, 2009 11:17 am

    @Dammika
    No, you don’t have to have a NRFC account. Only a normal Saving account will do, bank will do the conversion part for you, therefore no worries.

    Moneybookers takes around 4 dayz to transfer money.

    thank you so much for your quick feed back

  18. Yasas on February 4th, 2009 7:10 pm

    Hi. I normally browse these paypal related sites. What about 2co method ? Open a 2co a/c (fee US$49). Now receive funds from paypal, bank wire, etc. Now either request a check from 2co or apply for a Payoneer prepaid MasterCard from 2co. So you can withdraw your 2co funds from any ATM in Srilanka from MasterCard ATMs. But…it may cost about 12% on transferring charges. Bcoz the payment mode is: PayPal-> 2Co-> Payoneer. Make sense…?

  19. Mayooresan on February 5th, 2009 12:48 pm

    @Yasas
    I considered Payoneer method. Even I have that card, but they are useless as they are charging loads of fee as commission. In above process we’ll loose little amount as commission compare to your method.

    thank you

  21. Mayooresan on February 16th, 2009 4:34 pm

    @Dammika
    you registered as Sri Lankan users, therefore you can’t receive money in PayPal.

    I never used ScriptLance! I used getafreelancer only and it worked for me well with Moneybookers. Even this month I used this feature to withdraw money to bank.

    Using the above method I’m mentioned, we can get the money within 2 weeks. :)

  22. dammika on February 27th, 2009 3:12 pm

    Please reply soon.

    HI buddy,
    If you create an Indian moneybookers account how are you gonna transfer the money to Sri Lankan bank???

    Understand the concept clearly and proceed.

    You have to create Sri Lankan Moneybookers account. GAF account is not depending!

    Hi!

    I’m thinking of launching my e-store soon. If i use paypal and ask my brother to open a bank account in US and enter these details to Paypal, Then i can withdraw any money thru him, right? is this a viable workaround for those sri lankans who have a trustworthy person in USA? Thanks!

  31. Mayooresan on March 15th, 2009 1:57 pm

    @Maskara
    mmm.. I guess you’ll have problem. Because your PayPal name and Bank Account holder’s name are different.

    What you can do is, Open a PayPal account in your US friend’s name and then add his Bank account details. It’ll do. If your friend or cousin is not trust worthy, don’t even think of trying this method.

  32. Maskara on March 15th, 2009 2:06 pm

    Hi !

    Thanks for your reply. So It seems like a doable option if i trust somebody in the US? I don’t have a choice so I might take a chance.

  35. Mayooresan on March 15th, 2009 3:36 pm

    @Dammika
    It seems for few people it happens. I use my GAF account to find jobs (and I did find few) and to transfer money.

    They don’t seems to care about the money transfer I make.

    It’s a bad scene macho!

  36. Yasas on March 15th, 2009 3:50 pm

    Just think that…if we are freelancers working for a biz or individual, or with some physical customers (rather than just reading emails, or with PPC programmes etc), then- Api PayPal issaraha dhana gahanna onadha ? – I requested some of my customers to pay me via AlertPay. It works. Create free account. They’ll wire funds. Send and receiv funds to anyone with an email. (But currently they have a credit card outage!). Or why not Money bookers ? Free account and cheap! Or atleast 2Co ?!
    Any ideas ?

    I have a paypal account. I am a member since 2007.
    Recently I joined a site called pickjack, and they have paid me to my paypal acount, Transactions were done on 11th apr. Still I haven’t received money to my paypal account. Y is that? I selected the country as SriLanka. Is that the problem or ?.????
    Let me know ?

  38. @mayooresan on April 23rd, 2009 6:20 am

    your country is not eligible to receive money in PayPal??? a work-around for you http://tinyurl.com/7tn3dl #PayPal #Money

  39. ND on May 27th, 2009 2:03 pm

    Also you can buy some goods using paypal balance and sell them here with a profit. From online auctions you can find goods for less price. But you can sell them for market price or little less in sri lanka. This method gives you more money than simply paying money transfering charges. But this method is little complex and not viable for all.

    ND’s last blog post..No More Database Programming Needed !

  40. sampath on May 28th, 2009 10:36 pm

    GAF don’t let you to transfer your money directly from paypal to Payoneer. That method doesn’t work. They review the withdrawal, also its not a wise idea to create indian paypals, someday paypal ask you to submit your documents to verify your identity. If you fail, they close the account with all the money.

  42. Yasas on June 22nd, 2009 2:46 pm

    Hi. How R U all guys ? I could not visit this for more than 2 months. Still we r talking about funds from PayPal. Foreigners may use this time to shape their product / service. But we have to think TRICKS to receive funds from PayPal. We should find a long lasting solution for this. We can do this by approaching Univ of Moratuwa and via that making some arrangements from higher places such as Central Bank etc. This is possible if all of us could get together. (I have my own biz. So I use AlertPay). Bye

  43. Yasas on June 22nd, 2009 2:56 pm

    And,
    This is the ultimate solution for this. As someone said, these tricks or any such may be detected by paypal, resulting a/c close ups. Many freelancing projects etc worth $$$$ go missing every year, just bcoz of NO paypal. So every such IT guy should get together from their remote locations and approach Officials. I know it will take time and a daunting task as this is related to SL govt. But if it worked, it will be great. Not just for us, but for our children, under the globalization conditions.

    Are we Sri lankan’s living under the Big Giant ROCK?
    i agree with Yasas. why you depend on paypal always? i am a digital artist & i sell artworks internationally & get paid every month. i don’t tell am the best..but i do my best as compare with other graphics/digital/artist in sri lanka.

    First you guys understand the what are the online transaction policies in each payment methods.

    i requested to my customers pls pay me through alert pay.

    Its such a damn thing transferring money to another 03 accounts. If u are stucked why solutions? any guarantee?

    Finally This comment may be not posted. may be deleted.

    Hey bro, thankz for dropping and commenting on my site. I wrote this article because it’ll open new doors for the people who are trapped.

    True, we can try Altertpay, but how many clients are ready to try Alertpay??? I’ve personally requested many clients and they’re not interested at all :( . You’ve to accept the bitter truth.

    Regarding affiliate marketing. Mmm.. I don’t think there is anything wrong here as this is a win win situation for both my readers and myself. Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective way of making money online.

    Btw I didn’t make much money online through this post. So far I made around $15 only. :)

    Wish you good luck with your endeavours. Thankz for dropping in the comment. I like to see more criticism from you :)

    hi Bro.. Sorry for tough comment.. any way i have to tell another thing. Regarding Online marketing your the best blogger in sri lanka. I saw that your contents & facts are really fresh.

    As a Sri lankan i appreciate ur web. Because this is international type.

    about customer your right. Many International customers are being with paypal.

    I remember that i used “western union money transfer several” times.

    but we have to change this. my opinion is always try to KIT with customer for reasonable transaction. Before you got freelance jobs asked them what are the payment options. don’t afraid to ask that…

    Hi machan, Sri Lankan users can send money but can’t receive money. Read the article machan it gives you a work around.

    You can send money from your credit card no? so you don’t have to receive money to send money. If you link your credit card with PayPal account then they’ll automatically deduct the amount from your credit card and send it to the receiver.

    reply from paypal regarding receiving funds to Sri Lanka..this may help u all guys.yesterday it came from paypal support to me.
    ————————————————–
    I understand that you want to know why you cannot receive money, right/

    1how can i receive payments to my bank account. we can’t use credit card
    to receive money in sri lanka.

    I am sorry to tell you that you could not use your bank account or
    PayPal account or credit card to receive money. Currently, PayPal does
    not support Sri Lanka users to receive funds by PayPal accounts. Your
    PayPal account can only be used to send money, and your credit card is
    the funding source if you want to send money to others. Therefore, you
    may add your credit card to verify your account and send money. This
    function was limited by your local financial and governmental
    regulations. We are working actively to extend our business and let more
    users to use our service conveniently, but currently you are still not
    allowed to receive money.

    We do hope you can use your account to receive funds as soon as
    possible. Thanks very much for your support.

    ————————————————
    I hope this helps some of u guys regarding this serious paypal issue for SL.according to this our SL government must do something about this.I m another one of u who s really angry with this issue.ahhh we are still living in 18th century.may be we r running backwards..ohh I forgot yes we r running backwards.currently we have a King as president lol.

  53. Yasas on September 29th, 2009 11:59 pm

    That is what I always say… why we waste our time ? MoneyBookers and AlertPay support Srilanka. If PayPal only which can not support means, perhaps they may have some negative rules which the SL govt thinks not favourable. PP is not “thoththa babas”! So for one reason or other, they do not wish to support SL. So lets find alternatives… Money Bookers and AlertPay work well in SL. Do you know many people prefer them over PayPal in the West….?

  54. Viro on October 13th, 2009 10:44 am

    what type of sri lankan visa cards can i use to verify and withdraw money from paypal??

    i mean, what sri lnkan bank cards are supporting??

  57. Yasas on November 17th, 2009 11:56 pm

    Hey… men… the discussion is about ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO RECEIVE FUNDS TO SRILANKA FROM PAYPAL. So just by seeing the heading, Sahan and Ashton cant you guys understand NONE of the bank cards can be used to withdraw paypal funds to SL ? Not Commercial bank, even if you have HSBC account, when it comes to paypal in Srilanka… sorry thamai…!!! :-l

  58. @Yasas on November 18th, 2009 7:41 am

    The author is revealing a way to withdraw money from Paypal to SL by using GAF. We simply upload funds from Paypal to GAF and withdraw the meoney from there. So the part I need answers is after money comes to GAF. After we take the money from our Pyapal account to GAF account, there we can withdraw them to a GAF debit card or Commercial Bank account. As far as I’m concerned the Payoneeer card has lots of fees. That’s why I asked about commercial bank :)

  59. Mayooresan on November 18th, 2009 10:35 am

    @Aston
    hey man I didn’t try this method for a long time. Early days we need transfer money again from GAF to Moneybookers to wire the money to Sri Lankan bank.

    Yes you can use the GAF debit card but it has very high fee which would eat good amount of our fortune.

  60. Yasas on November 19th, 2009 10:34 am

    Hi yes. Thanks for clarification… I too did not know about a GAF debit card. I am fortunate enough to have HUMAN CUSTOMERS. So I use AlertPay. Recently some of my customers paid via Western Union. They said they pay ONLINE by Western Union. I did not ask much about it… but always I have thought a person MUST visit an agent to initiate a money transfer via western union. However, lets move towards a HUMAN customer base, than Google Click etc..

    Hi, I’m a freelancer and I’m earning a pretty decent amount, and I’m withdrawing my funds thru Payoneer (Cash thru an ATM), but there’s a one prob I’m getting. For onetime I only can withdraw Rs20000, so if I want to withdraw Rs50000, I have to put my card four times and means I have to pay $ 2*4 = 8 per withdrawal + the commission,

    Any suggestions ? and can u put up ur email address ?
