Airtel Launch Further Delayed

Breaking News: January 12th Airtel Launch
In one of my posts I’ve mentioned that, “Airtel will be launched on 18th of December”. Once again Airtel further delayed their launch.

It’s really a funny joke that Airtel keeping the people expectations. One of my friends working inside saying that, still they have not decided about the pricing. I don’t know how but there are enough emails roaming around in internet with Airtel tariff details.

Airtel is not going to have a rapid stake growth in Sri Lanka. It’ll take some time for them to catch up with the market. They need to do something outstanding to break and penetrate the brand image of Dialog. Most of the Dialog users like me will not easily switch to Airtel.

We’ll wait and see the out come…. (though I hate it)

    I don’t rely on AirTel. They keep postponing their commencing date. I bought an Upahara package from Mobitel recently. So it’s much worth than Airtel.

    @Chandana
    You’re an example!
    People wont wait so long for a product to arrive, but don’t under estimate Airtel brand value.

    They’ll give tough fight to existing operators.

    The more the delay the more the buzz will be…. but i came to know they are going to have an grand opening with A R Rahman & Sharukh Khan coming, i dont know how far this is true but if its to happen i know for a fact Airtel will be having a great start in Srilanka.

    @haris
    You must be knowing better than me on this issue.

    Hope Rehman and Sharuk will come for the kick off launch :D

    Will probably not be delayed this time. I’ve got legitimate info that they’re in the final touch ups of their launch, BUT, the tariffs have not yet been submitted to the TRC.

    Will AirTel be a real disaster for our existing operators? I saw Dialog people are selling their connections in the pavement of Colpetty as low as Rs. 50/- per SIM. What will happen to Hutchison and TIGO…? :(

    @K FLYER
    Thanks for the info.

    yeah they better not delay :D

    If you study the success of Microsoft you should not postpone the commercial release date. Postponing will only generate negative remarks. May be they are more popular in India but if they keep on postponing they will not be in a position to get any customers.
    As chandana mentioned competitors are offering more features like Upahara from Mobitel or Blaster from Dialog.

    hi,
    the AIRTEL will have to launch their services before end of this year.if they not concidered after they will have to hated by the people…

  11. Mayooresan on December 18th, 2008 2:33 pm

    @Umapathy
    You’re making sense, but in a long run they can catch up the market if the product is exceeding the expectations of the customers.

    If Dialog and Mobitel can offer Blaster and Upahara why not Airtel, they’ll also come up with similar but fine tuned product. :)

    @Ventan
    :D

    we dont need airtel, airtel is very poor range network, we like srilankan network. i thing that is a best for every srilankans

    This is the buying season with people opting for xmas, 31st, new year bargains. Airtel needs to understand that this is SL and not India. They are losing all these potential customers if they launch in 2009. Just my 2 cents worth

    Siri laka de..
    Siri sapa de…

    We don’t buy AirTel. It’s an indian product.
