Adiye Kolludhe: The only Tamil song on Channel [V]

November 30, 2008 · Filed Under Entertainment, Movies, Tamil · 1 Comment

Adiye kolluthey is perhaps the first Tamil song ever played over Channel [V]. It’s a honor to Tamil cinema folks (???). Normally Channel V is dominated by Bollywood songs and they don’t give a shit about South Talents.

Vaaranamiyram Movie Poster

Vaaranamiyram Movie Poster

The scenario has changed with Vaaranam Aayiram’s ‘Adiye Kolludhe’ breaking the jinx of “no southern songs on [V]”. Vaaranam Aayiram stars Suriya, Sameera Reddy, Divya Spandana and Simran. Harris Jayaraj has composed its music. Sony BMG owns the audio rights of Vaaranam Aayiram.

Last week I watched the movie. You can watch the movie for surya. Sameera Retty is so damn cute. Many of my friends Criticized this movie, but why do they compare this movie with the movies made for awards. Its purly a commercial film and it has all the essence that is necessary to a commercial movie.

Adiye kolluthey is my favourite among the songs.

Trivia: ‘Adiye Kolludhe’ was sung by Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruthi (male voice: Krish) and it was released by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya!

Check out the video “Adiye Kolluthey” (hey, it’s killing me)

Call Me SMS from Dialog - Sri Lanka

Call Me SMS from Dialog - Sri Lanka

Dialog has introduced a new feature where you can request another Dialog customer to call you. This feature is very useful when you’re phone is disconnected or you’re low on credit.

Call Me SMSes are offered free of charge and all you have to do is just Dial #356*followed by the number you wish to request a call from# [Eg : #356*0771234567#] & and SMS will be sent to the intended recipient with your request.

This feature is available within Dialog network, so you won’t be able to request a call from other network users.

I tried and it delivers a message to the party saying “0777xxxxxx” has requested a call from you.

Girls gonna enjoy this feature while guys gonna suffer. Hik hik hik :)

Themes for Gmail from Google

November 20, 2008 · Filed Under Internet · 1 Comment

There are several third party script based themes available for Gmail but now we have official themes for Gmail. Yes, Google has announced Themes for Gmail.

Today morning in Twitter I saw people are talking about themes in Gmail so I logged onto my Gmail account and found following notification is on the top. I clicked it and activated the mountain theme.

As of now this feature is not available to all Gmail accounts because I’m using two Gmail accounts but this theme feature is available only on one email account. I hope Google will expand this feature to all others too.

To activate a theme manually go to Settings -> Themes. Then select your favorite theme. That’s it; you can have a customized view of your inbox. If you liked this feature as I do, Give me a five then.

Pomegranate – an iPhone Killer

November 19, 2008 · Filed Under Mobile · 3 Comments

Pomegranate is a powerful hand held phone that going to kick on the ass of iPhone. I just got the link to Pomegranate on Twitter in John Reese’s Twit. Design is stunning and eye catchy. I’m sure gadget lovers gonna be crazy about this stuff.

Dazzling interface of Pomegranate

Dazzling interface of Pomegranate

These are some interesting stuffs I need to point out

Global Voice Translator
It translates 50 Languages. Say you wanna speak with your French friend, all you need to do is speak on this phone on English, and it’ll automatically translate and speak out in French for your friend from the speaker in the rear. You French friend can do the same thing.

Most of us are still wondered about web based translation tool. Obviously it’s an awesome feature. Personal translator got a real big problem. In near future political leaders can bring this phone instead of a beautiful translator lady.

Shave while you travel
There is a razer attached to the phone. You don’t have to spend time on wash-room to shave your beard. You can do it while you’re on the run. Ladies can use it to shave the hairs on the hands and legs.

Shave and talk while you on the street. Cool huh?

Watch Movies with Pomegranate
You can use your Pomegranate phone as a projector and watch movies and TV shows in you home. It’ll bring Home theater experience to you and your family.

Also you can use this projector feature for your business purpose such as showing presentation etc.

Make Coffee with your Pomegranate
OMG you can now even make coffee with your phone. All you need to do is insert a flavor to your phone and use the phone and it’ll suck the water inside and make you a coffee.

Harmonica
You can play music with your phone. When you’re tired and stressed you can play music, as you play mouth organ.

Doesn’t it ring bell? Yes exactly they are fooling us by showing this wonderful site. Lol :D It took some time for me to find this out. Its your time to fool your friend.

So what is this? Well, it’s not a mobile device. It’s an advertisement for Nova Scotia…

The Pomegranate phone is part of the Nova Scotian government’s “Come to Life” viral marketing campaign. Nova Scotia has been criticized for spending $300,000 on the ad campaign, though the website received around 150,000 hits after a month, and they are considering it to be very successful.

Facebook in Tamil

November 15, 2008 · Filed Under Internet, Localisation · 4 Comments

Good news for Tamil Facebook fans. Today I found that Tamil interface is available for Facebook. Translations are done as facebook users. If you wish you can also contribute to the volunteer translations. If your language is not available in the home page then you can check for your language in translations.

Around 50% of the translations are done. Now most of the sites are tend to give Tamil interface for their sites such as Google, Gmail, Orkut, Google docs, WordPress.com, Blogger.com, etc.

As the numbers of Tamil users grow globally these sites are getting ready to grab them all.

As I mentioned above you can help facebook to translate their site into your language but I usually don’t recommend them. These internet giants outsource and do this work very easily but still they suck the blood of the community around their site.

Early days I used to fall for such initiations, where I still remember I used to translate for Google. Remember you translate everything but the copyrights will go to Google, Microsoft and Facebook.

Translation Interface

We must support localizations in open source programs such as WordPress, Ubuntu etc, but never ever fall for these internet giants.

Switch off your lap-top Monitor

November 14, 2008 · Filed Under Tutorials · 3 Comments

Recently I bought a lap-top and I love being with my lap-top. One advantage in Desk top is you can simply switch off your monitor using the monitor power button but in lap top there is no such button available.

I was digging through internet and found this wonderful portable software. You can simply choose a short cut key and switch off your monitor in seconds.

First download the software (24 KB) and saved in a folder. As shown in the picture below, create a short cut in the desk top.

Now right click on the desk-top short cut and choose property

As shown in the picture click on short cut keys text box and choose your short cut key (I choose Ctrl + Alt + M)

That’s it you’re done. When ever you wanna switch the monitor off, you press your short cut key.

With this method you can effectively save power and convenient way to shut your monitor while let the laptop to run.

PS: you can use this software even with your Desk top

Video Chat inside Gmail

November 13, 2008 · Filed Under Google · Comment

Now video chat is available inside Gmail. This is a great feature and I’m sure no other web based email portal ever came up with such innovative technology.

You need to install a plugin for your browser then only you’ll be able to do this video chat inside Gmail.

As usual, Google is one step ahead of their competitors.

5 Ways to Monetize Your Twitter Account

November 11, 2008 · Filed Under Internet, Make Money, Tutorials · 80 Comments

Yesterday I come to know that I’m the third most ELITE twitter user in Sri Lanaka :) . Here I’m going to write a post on 5 ways to monetize your Twitter account.

I personally suggest you to have a look @ the ebook Make Money on Twitter. You’ll learn first what Twitter is, and then how it may be used to secure your financial freedom.

1. Advertise on Twitter
You can sell space on Twitter profile and make some money out of it. I recently come to know about two sites which will help you to monotize your Twitter account. Check out the sites

Rumbling Lankan has written a post on How to find advertisers for your Twitter profile.

2. Pro-Twitter
You can allow followers only after they paying some fee. This method is not possible unless you’re a popular figure in a niche. For example say, you’re a well known Internet marketer and you start Twitter account and make twits. You only allow members who paid to follow your twits.

If you’re a popular figure then you’ll have enough followers. Check out about TwitPub which is made for Pro-Twitters.

3. Use it to Promote your products
Use Twitter to promote your products. If you’re an e-book seller then use twitter and promote your eBooks on Twitter. It does works when you have enormous number of followers.

Promote your blogs and get more traffic to your blog. More traffic more money ;)

Also you can use Twitter to promote your affiliate products to make money online.

4. Pay Per Twit
You contact the advertisers directly and you come to an agreement where they’ll pay you for each Twit. This will work when you’re a popular and known Twitter.

5. Sell your account on Ebay
This may sound ridiculous to you but there are people who sold their Twitter account for $500 even. So don’t give up work on it.

As I always say, you can’t make money out of nothing. You need dedication and it’ll take some time to generate money online. Don’t give up keep on trying. One day you can make enough money online.

I make around $100 – $150 per month from several sources. I gave you these figures just to inspire you. Remember this amount is kept on increasing every month.

We’ll soon meet in another Make money online tutorial.

Dialog Mobile Broadband Customer Care SUCKS

November 10, 2008 · Filed Under Mobile, Sri Lanka · 10 Comments

Dialog Mobile Broadband

Yesterday I found that my Dialog Mobile Broadband’s down speed has gone down to 50 KBps. Most probably I have reached the 5 GB limit. I want to check out how much I have downloaded so far, so I called the Dialog Mobile Broadband Technical support (which you can found on USB modem’s cover) and they have no idea how to find it. A guy over there told me that, I need to check it in My Dialog.

I went to My Dialog but still there is no such thing. Then he suggested me to call their customer care at 0777 678678. I called them and there was a lady answered and she doesn’t know what I’m speaking of. Gradually she hang up the phone to escape from me.

I didn’t quite I called the customer care again and someone else answered this time. That person asked me to check it out in the Modem Software. If you switch the machines then the modem software will not count the download that you made in the previous computer. I was keep on asking that person and that person was giving me several ideas to check out the limit, but we never be able to find it.

I’m just wondering there are anyone knows how to check how much I have downloaded?

I’m fed-up with Dialog customer care and Dialog keeps new people in their front end, who has no knowledge on products. What happened to the old customer care personals? Do they switch to Airtel?
